Full Description

A post medieval sand pit on the east side of Coneygar Lane is visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The feature is sub-oval in form, measuring 45.3m long by 22.4m wide. It is recorded as 'Old Sand Pit' on the OS 1st Edition map where it is shown as being situated on the east side of a trackway running south off Coneygar Lane, within a small area of rough ground ("). The site is under trees on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is not visible. It was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
