Full Description
A banked curvilinear features at Longham is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The feature is narrow and curvilinear in form. It extends between a historic drainage channel to the southwest and a straight regular historic field boundary to the west, both probably post medieval in date and both recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The feature is presumed to also be a historic field boundary; possibly medieval in origin, given its curvilinear character, although a later date cannot be ruled out.
The site is part of Dudsbury Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
