Summary

A ditched linear feature at Longham Bridge is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature may be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval origin although it may alternatively be a post medieval drainage ditch. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched linear feature at Longham Bridge is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature comprises a 36m long section of narrow ditch extending betweeen a historic field boundary to the southeast and a stream or artificial drainage channel to the northwest. The feature may be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval origin although it may alternatively be a post medieval drainage ditch. The site is still open field on Google Earth imagery and the feature is still faintly visible. It was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
