Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features on Parley Common are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and correspond with adjacent historic field boundaries recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose regular character indicates a probable post medieval origin (2). The features are presumed to also be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date.
The site is still Common and fields on current Google Earth imagery although the features within the fields to the south are not visible under modern extension of Stocks Farm. The features were digitally plotted from aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
