An area of parallel ridged and ditched cultivation marks on East Parley Common are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise regular parallel ridges set around 4.5 to 5m apart with 1.5m wide ditches in between. They occupy the whole of a small historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose regular boundaries indicate a probable post medieval origin (2). The features may be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is under trees on current Google Earth imagery and the features are not visible. They were digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
