Summary
A sub-rectangular banked feature with a circular opening at its north end is visible on Parley Common on 1940s aerial photographs. It is situated on the east side of a shallow depression, possibly a post medieval extractive pit (part of MDO 41389). The feature may be a water tank or covered reservoir, possibly of late 19th or early 20th Century date. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A sub-rectangular banked feature with a circular opening at its north end is visible on Parley Common on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The feature is 19.2m long by 9.6m wide and the opening at its north end is 4.6m in diameter. The feature is situated on the east side of a shallow depression, possibly a post medieval extractive pit (part of MDO 41389). It may be a water tank or covered reservoir, possibly of late 19th or early 20th Century date.
The feature is still visible in 1974 (3) but is under tree cover on current Google Earth imagery and no longer visible. It was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
