Full Description
Banked linear features to the north of Parley Court Farm, Hurn, are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features are broad and rectilinear in form. They sub-divide large irregular historic enclosures recorded on the OS 1st Edition map whose character suggest a possible medieval origin (2) and it is possible the linears represent one longer feature cut by one of the historic field boundaries. The features may also be field boundaries, perhaps of late prehistoric origin. Alternatively they may be historic field boundaries of possible medieval date. There are further similar features to the west (MDO41401) that may also be of late prehistoric origin, potentially suggesting part of a wider field system of this date.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
