Full Description
Ditched linear features to the west of Parley Court Farm, Hurn, are visible on aerial photographs (1-2).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form. They sub-divide a large irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map whose character predominantly suggests a probable medieval origin, possibly with some later, probably post medieval, re-organisation on its east side (3). The features align with the more regular historic field boundary enclosing the east s ide of the field and it is presumed that the features are also historic field boundaries of probable post medieval origin, although an earlier date is also possible.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
