Full Description
Ditched and banked curvilinear features to the northwest of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1)
The features are narrow and curvilinear in form. They are located within the parkland northwest of Henbury House. One of the features bounds the southeast edge of an area of probable medieval ridge and furrow cultivation (MDO41434). The southern end of one of the linear features appears to underlie a later boundary of probable post medieval date.
The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of possible medieval date, although a later origin is also possible.
The site is still open fields on current google Earth imagery although the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted from aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
