Summary
Irregular ditched hollows in the parkland east of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, are visible on current Lidar imagery. The features are presumed to be post medieval extractive pits; the OS 1st Edition map shows a smaller feature surrounded by treesat this location, though it is not named. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
Irregular ditched hollows in the parkland east of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features comprise two irregular hollows with shallow sloping sides. They are situated adjacent to each other, the easternmost being teardrop-shaped and 74.3m long by 53.7m wide, the westernmost being sub-oval in shape and 57.7m long by 42.8m wide.
The features are presumed to be post medieval extractive pits; the OS 1st Edition map shows a smaller feature surrounded by trees at this location, though it is not named.
The features were digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
