Full Description

An area of ridged and ditched cultivation to the north of Lake Farm, Pamphill, is visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2). The features comprise slightly curving parallel ridges set approximately 8.5m apart with 2m wide ditches in between. They occupy the larger part of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose predominantly curvilinear boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin (3). The form and character of the features suggest probable medieval ridge and furrow. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
