Summary
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks to the east of Little Manor Farm, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are considered likely to be those of narrow ridge and furrow, possibly of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. Alternatively they may perhaps be 19th Century steam ploughed rig. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks to the east of Little Manor Farm, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise parallel ridges and ditches, very regular and straight in form and set approximately 5m apart with 1.2m wide ditches in between. They occupy the east side of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose sinuous boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin (2). The features are bounded on their west side by a historic field boundary of probable post medieval date (2).
The features are considered likely to be those of narrow ridge and furrow, possibly of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. Alternatively they may perhaps be 19th Century steam ploughed rig.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
