Summary
A series of linear post medieval spoil heaps at Corfe Mullen are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are situated immediately southwest of Naked Cross Pit, recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (but under housing by the 1940s) and immediately adjacent to a further area of post medieval extraction to the southwest (MDO41556). The features are presumed to be associated with this wider area of post medieval extraction. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A series of linear post medieval spoil heaps at Corfe Mullen are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The features comprise two broad linear banks up to 48m in length, with flanking ditches along their southeast sides.They are situated immediately southwest of Naked Cross Pit, recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (but under housing by the 1940s) and immediately adjacent to a further area of post medieval extraction to the southwest (MDO41556) (3). The features are presumed to be associated with this wider area of post medieval extraction.
The site is under an area of trees within a modern housing estate on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
