Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features at Happy Bottom, Corfe Mullen, are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features are broad and slihgtly irregular in form. They are situated within an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose slightly sinuous boundaries are likely to be predominantly medieval in origin (2). The features are not obviously aligned with the surrounding pattern of historic enclosure (except possibly on the eastern boundary, which is straighter in form and possibly post medieval in date).
The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries, probably of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
