Summary
A post medieval extractive pit to the northwest of Barford Farm, Pamphill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The southwest end of the feature is shown as a smaller extractive pit recorded as a quarry on the OS 1st Edition map. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the northwest of Barford Farm, Pamphill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The feature extends across a 151m long by 121m wide area and in 1946 is partly water-filled. The southwest end of the feature is shown as a smaller extractive pit recorded as a quarry on the OS 1st Edition map (3).
The site is under trees and vegetation on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
