Full Description
Ditched curvilinear features to the southwest of New Barn Farm are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (1-2).
The features are ephemeral and disjointed but appear to comprise several sections of curvilinear ditch that potentially form the S, W and E sides of a large curvilinear enclosure approximately 118m in diameter. Several shorter sections of ditch at the southwest end may underlie banked linear features thought to belong to a field system (MDO41659) of possible Iron Age to Romano-British date but the relationship is not clear from aerial photographic evidence alone.
The features may also be late prehistoric in date, potentially pre-Iron Age.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
