Full Description

A linear ditched feature to the southwest of New Barn Farm is visible as a cropmark on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature is narrow and slightly curvilinear in form and extends southwest for 163m from a historic field boundary recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The feature potentially continues the line of a banked historic field boundary or trackway that is visible on the same 1940s aerial photographs to the northeast; it is not certain that the ditched linear forms part of one coherent feature with the field boundary/trackway but it is possible they are contemporary and therefore potentially medieval to post medieval in date. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
