Summary

A stone quay built by Wanostrocht & Co who in 1858 won a contract to light Paris with gas from Kimmeridge shale. They extended shale extraction at Kimmeridge and built a stone quay and iron jetty. The stone slabs of the pier have moved from their original position owing to marine erosion.
