Sherds of Romano-British pottery and a piece of Samian ware, Roman coins and a brooch found in 1955 during building of a bungalow to the east of Higher Muckleford Farm.

Full Description
Evidence of RB occupation and some medieval sherds was discovered during the building of a bungalow at SY 64159350. Three early medieval coarse ware sherds and eight RB sherds, including one of samian, were found in a water main trench. A closely packed layer of flints was noticed in a sewage pit and three coins were found around the site, two of the fourth century and the other of Claudius II Gothicus (AD268-270). A bronze fibula was also found in the sewage pit. <1>
