An extensive system of irregular parallel banks is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1954 on rough-ground at Slop Bog, Ferndown. The parallel banks run perpendicular to a series of linear ditches or drains. The features are considered likely to be of historic origin, possibly an attempt to drain the bog in the post medieval or medieval periods. The features are still extant on recent lidar imagery, they were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
