A post medieval extractive pit on the south side of Kingston Lacy Park is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The feature comprises an irregular scarped depression approximately 168.6m long by 88.6m wide. The OS 1st Edition map shows a small post medieval extractive pit at this location, situated on the west side of a number of intersecting trackways (2). The feature visible on current Lidar imagery is substantially larger than that recorded on the OS 1st Edition map but is considered likely to be predominantly associated with an area of post medieval extraction.
The feature was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
