Full Description

A possible post medieval extractive pit at Chilbridge is visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The feature comprises an irregular scarped depression approximately 63m long by up to 42.5m wide. The feature corresponds with an irregular C-shaped enclosure rec orded on the OS 1st Edition map, which may indicate an area of extraction or a quarry, although it is not named as such (2). The feature was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
