An irregular scarped depression to the east of Pamphill Green is visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery. The feature may be a shallow post medieval extractive pit, possibly associated with gravel extraction. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A scarped curvilinear feature to the east of Pamphill Green is visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2).
The feature comprises an irregular shallow depression approximately 165m long by up to 75m wide. It extends up to a historic field boundary at its southeast end. A 1947 aerial photograph shows the feature to be partially water-filled (1). The feature may be part of a shallow post medieval extractive pit, possibly associated with gravel extraction.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is still faintly visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
