Full Description

Banked curvilinear features at Little Pamphill are visible on aerial photographs (1). The features are narrow and slightly curvilinear in form. They broadly correspond with adjacent historic field boundaries recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose sinuous character indicates a probable medieval origin, possibly with some post medieval sub-division (2). The features are considered likely to also be historic field boundaries of possible medieval origin, although a later date is also possible. The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery. The northernmost of the two features is still visible, the southernmost being under trees and scrub. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
