Summary

Banked curvilinear features at Little Pamphill are visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery. The features may be part of a medieval hollow way. They may be associated with a further section of possible medieval hollow way 211m to the west (MDO41862). The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Banked curvilinear features at Little Pamphill are visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2). The features are broad and slightly curvilinear in form. They form two lines of broken parallel banks set approximately 9m apart and extending on a broadly E-W axis along the north bank of the River Stour for a distance of over 356m. The features may be part of a medieval hollow way. A further possible section of the hollow way is also visible on aerial photographs 211m to the west (see MDO41862) at ST 99304 100024 (1). The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery. The features are still faintly visible. They were digitally plotted from aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
