Summary
Roman pottery including samian ware, and other Roman items including brooches have been found at this site. These surface finds are interpreted as indicating settlement in the vicinity.

Full Description
In fields adjoining Langton parsonage and on the opposite side of the road, a considerable area was covered with inequalities, and the removal of the turf, during the process of levelling the ground, disclosed large quantities of Samian ware, coarse pottery, fragments of iron and other debris. <2>
The field referred to in Authy 1 is under pasture, as is that on the north side of the road. There are now no visible traces of early occupation. No surface finds were made, and from enquiries it seems nothing has been found in the area in recent years. <3>
Roman pottery including samian ware, and brooches have been found, principally near ST 89710597; bronze brooches and a pin in the British Museum (Durden Colln.) probably came from this site. <4>
