Monument record MDO41991 - Romano-British field system, School Hill, Chickerell
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A series of seven ditches recorded in 2016 during evaluation of a proposed development site, and interpreted as drainage and boundary enclosures relating to a nearby domestic farmstead, though the farmstead itself was not recorded in the course of work. The fillings of these ditches contained pottery dating mostly to the late Roman period, supporting this interpretation.
