Former village of Stock Gaylard, first recorded as ‘Stoches’ in Domesday Book, only three families recorded in 1333 after that no more records.

The remains are visible on air photographs.
Also visible are enclosures in the field centred ST 723134. <2>
Area centred ST 72301305. Vestiges of Stoke Gaylard Deserted Medieval Village survive as low amorphous, grass covered mounds cut into ridges by deep 'mole-drainage' channels. The boundary scarp is in part defined, but the two 'well defined' building platforms noted by RCHM <1> were not positively identified, although two probable building scoops are discernible at ST 72281314 and ST 72301295. The present owner <3.1> could offer no further information on this site.
