Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who noted that almost all (80-90%) of the kiln structure survived in good condition, that it measured 1.6m in diameter and 3.3m high, that the volume of the chamber was 4.6m2 and that it had a rounded, stone-built draw arch.
