An 'Old Chalk Pit' is shown on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map to the northeast of Old Wood [1]. A large chalk pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs [2] and was digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
