Monument record MDO42695 - Possible Second World War roadblock on the B3093 Wimborne Road, Poole
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
The Pilbox Study Group note the site of a probable Second World War roadblock on Wimborne Road just south of its intersection with Stokes Avenue and Sandbourne Road. The roadblock is inferred from RAF aerial photographs dated January 1947, and probably formed part of a stop-line of concrete anti-tank blocks to either side of Wimborne Road and continuing NNE across former allottment gardens to link with a large drain or anti-tank ditch south of Mellstock Road (and now east of Oakdale Junior School).
