The Pilbox Study Group note the presence of a Second World War weapon pit at approximately this location, set amidst dunes at the eastern end of Hengistbury Head. The feature is marked on a map of the defences associated with RAF Southbourne and Hengistbury Head, reproduced by M A Edgington.
