Monument record MDO42713 - Possible Second World War railblock north of Sterte Road overbridge, Poole

Summary
The Pillbox Study Group list a possible Second World War railblock on the Weymouth to London Waterloo railway line north od Sterte Road, on the northern approach to Poole railway ststion. The block is inferred from RAF vertical aerial photographs dated January 1947, and appears to co-incide with the crossing of the railway over a large drain and/or anti-tank ditch cut into peripheral salt marsh.

The railblock has been removed. The underlying drain/ditch has been infilled or culverted and the area redeveloped.
