Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
The Pillbox Study Group note a former Second World War trench of uncertain form on the coastal slopes at East Cliff, Below East Overcliff Drive and overlooking Undercliff Drive and Bournemouth Beach, as listed by M A Edgington. The feature may, inconclusively, relate to a small military camp and possible radio mast (MDO28625) located just to the west.

Full Description
Although listed by the PSG as removed, the status of the monument is unclear. 2005 Google Earth imagery shows the site occupied by what appears to be a paved terrace - possibly walled, at least to the south, with some form of roofing or structures (possibly a row of small huts or shelters) along its north edge. It is accessed from Undercliff Drive by a dog-legged flight of steps. By 2014, the terrace and steps appear overgrown and possibly disused.
