Monument record MDO42828 - Probable medieval lynchets, Blastmoor Hill, Maiden Newton
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Banked and scarped linear features are visible as earthworks on current Lidar imagery on the west side of Blastmoor Hill, Maiden Newton. The features are considered likely to be strip lynchets of probable medieval date. The features are situated on the western edge of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system (MDO42829) at Hogg Cliff Bottom and it is possible that some of the features are outliers associated with that. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
