Full Description
Banked linear features are visible as earthworks on current Lidar imagery to the west of Hyde Cliff Plantation, Frampton (1). The features appear to comprise broad linear banks that may be field boundaries, possibly of late prehistoric date. They are situated close to the southwest side of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system (MDO42838) to the northwest. The southernmost feature corresponds with a historic trackway or field boundary which is visible on a 1948 aerial photograph (2) but the underlying linear bank visible on Lidar suggests this may follow an older, possibly prehistoric, feature, though this is not certain.
The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
