Summary

A Second World War Type 22 pillbox is visible as an octagonal structure on 1940s aerial photographs above a railway tunnel at Frampton. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The structure was constructed in 1940-41 and was built of brick and concrete. A field visit in 1997 found the structure had been demolished, the bricks had been dumped in the hedgerow above the tunnel entrance.

Map evidence of location of type 22 pillbox: bricks found dumped in hedgerow above tunnel entrance. No evidence of former location found on the ground. On top of railway tunnel, Frampton. <1-3> A Second World War Type 22 pillbox is visible as an octagonal structure on 1940s aerial photographs above a railway tunnel at Frampton (1).
