Full Description

Two sub-circular pits are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on South Field Down, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map (2). They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. Both features are still visible as earthworks on current Google Earth imagery (3).
