Several small sub-circular pits and a larger elongated pit are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the northeast side of Frome Vauchurch, Maiden Newton. The larger elongated feature is recorded as a gravel pit on the OS 1st Edition map. The features are situated on a terrace of the River Frome and may all be small post medieval gravel pits. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
