Summary
Multiple sub-circular pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, distributed across the area of Farm Hill Bottom, Maiden Newton. One of the larger of the features is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map as a chalk pit. The remaining features may also be post medieval chalk pits. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description
Multiple sub-circular pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, distributed across the area of Farm Hill Bottom, Maiden Newton (1 -3). One of the larger of the features is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map as a chalk pit (4). The remaining features may also be post medieval chalk pits. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.The majority of the features are still visible as earthworks and cropmarks on current Google Earth imagery.
