Summary
A series of narrow linear banks and scarps are visible as earthworks on current Lidar imagery on the slopes of Huish Plantation, Sydling St Nicholas. The features are within an area recorded as down on the OS 1st Edition map. They are probably medieval strip lynchets although they are situated within an area of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system (MDO42917) and may include features of older origin. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description
A series of narrow linear banks and scarps are visible as earthworks on current Lidar imagery on the slopes of Huish Plantation, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The features are within an area recorded as down on the OS 1st Edition map. They are probably medieval strip lynchets although they are situated within an area of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system (MDO42917) and may include features of older origin. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The features are under plantation and not visible on current Google Earth imagery.
