Summary
A group of sub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the north side of Haydon Lane, Melbury Bubb. One of the larger features is recorded as an old chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map and the additional features are also considered likely to be chalk pits, probably of post medieval date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

A group ofsub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the north side of Haydon Lane, Melbury Bubb (1, 2). One of the larger features is recorded as an old chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map (3) and the additional features are also considered likely to be chalk pits, probably of post medieval date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
Only one of the features is still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
