Full Description
Linear banked and ditched features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs to the northwest of Poor Lot, Batcombe (1, 2). The features comprise a broad linear bank running SSW to NNE across the middle of a historic field, with a series of slighty curvilinear banks and ditches running perpendicular to it and parallel to each other, on a broadly SSE-NNW axis. They may be field boundaries of prehistoric origin, possibly Iron Age/Romano-British in date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The features are still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
