Summary
A sub-circular ditched and scarped feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs to the southeast of Poor Lots, Batcombe. The feature is close to an area recorded as old quarries on the OS 1st Edition map. It is probably a post medieval extractive pit and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description
A sub-circular ditched and scarped feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs to the southeast of Poor Lots, Batcombe (1). The feature is close to an area recorded as old quarries on the OS 1st Edition map and features on the map as a small semi-circular earthwork bordering a historic trackway; it may have been subsequently enlarged to a sub-circular pit approximately 22m by 19.5m in size (2). It is probably a post medieval extractive pit and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The feature is still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
