Full Description
Irregular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs to the south of Poor Lots, Batcombe (1, 2). The features comprise shallow irregular pitted areas either side of a farm track. They appear deliberately cut and may be post medieval extractive pits or quarries. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The features on the east side of the track are still faintly visible on current Google Earth imagery, although grassed over. Those on the west side of the track within fields are no longer visible.
