Summary

Several sub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on Row Hill, Sydling St Nicholas. Two of the features are recorded as old gravel pits on the OS 1st Edition map. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

Several sub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on Row Hill, Sydling St Nicholas (1, 2). Two of the features are recorded as old gravel pits on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. Only one of the features is still visible on current Google Earth imagery, with some under trees and one visible as a cropmark.
