Full Description

An elongated scarped feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs on the east side of East Coppice, Sydling Woods, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The feature comprises a shallow linear depression of uneven or disturbed ground approximately 178m long by approximately 24m deep. It may be a post medieval extractive pit or quarry. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The feature is under trees and not visible on current Google Earth imagery.
