Full Description

Areas of shallow ridges and ditches are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on West Hill, Batcombe (1). The features comprise narrow regular ridges contained by adjacent historic field boundaries and respecting a prehistoric linear earthwork (part of MDO1195). The south west boundary edge is less certain. The features may be those of historic cultivation marks, possibly of post medieval or early modern date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery.
