Summary

Areas of shallow ridges and ditches are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on West Hill, Frome St Quintin. The features may be those of historic cultivation marks, possibly narrow post medieval ridge and furrow. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

Areas of shallow ridges and ditches are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on West Hill, Frome St Quintin (1). The features comprise narrow regular ridged and ditched cultivation contained by historic field boundaries and respecting a double banked trackway that potentially forms the southwest end of a medieval drove road (MDO1200). They may be cultivations marks of post medieval date, possibly narrow post medieval ridge and furrow. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery.
