A sub-circular ditched feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery at Chalkcombe Plantation, Sydling St Nicholas. The feature may be an extractive pit, possibly a chalk pit (given the name of the plantation), of probable post medieval date. An irregular earthwork and linking trackway is recorded but not named on the OS 1st Edition map. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
